How long will it take for you to build my website?

Good question;  it varies depending on the complexity of the website, and of course on my workload at the time–   as well as designing building websites, I also work on solving people’s problems with their websites). So, very roughly, anywhere from a week to a month.

We’ll work closely with you to determine everything you want – from colours, to images, to specific features:

  • a unique website
  •  an outline of planned co-operative steps
  • perfect text: from content, to spelling and grammar
  • eye-catching features such as sliders and parallax effects
  • personal instruction to upkeep your website & to make changes by yourself

We want to make sure you love you new website! So first we have a good chat about your needs and any ideas you might already have, such as colour preference. Then we’ll design for you what’s called a mockup; this is the very basic look, which together we then add to and develop, incorporating all our ideas until you’re happy, and ready to approve the final design.

Jean will gladly make sure you can make ALL basic changes to your website – included in the price. From changing text and images, to adding new products in your store – we’ll make it easy.

Jean is passionate about computers, but she’s not like a geek, no worries. She’s got the expertise, that’s for sure, but she’ll walk you through it all in a friendly easy-to-understand way.

Again, we’ve got you covered. You get free support for changing text and images yourself, for the first THREE MONTHS after your website is complete. Any changes you want after that free period, or any new additions to your website once you’ve approved it, will be charged at the usual incredibly low rate – feel free to contact us for the current rate.

Apart from the fee for the design and building of your website, you will need to pay for 2 other things to get your website live.

  • A DOMAIN NAME (for example, mynewsite.co.nz). That’s usually less than $30 a year, renewed annually. The domain name is basically like your home address – it’s unique to you, and it’s where people will find you on the internet.
  • You’ll also need to have your website HOSTED*. We can recommend several hosts with excellent prices as well as excellent reputations; the ones we can recommend currently charge around NZ$7-8 a month; to get this cheap rate and to lock it in, exactly like a mortgage you need to prepay for 3 years. So an upfront payment of approx $250 – $280.

*Host companies have huge servers where they store all the website contents for their customers, and these hosts are the ones who send that content out to people who are wanting to go to your website.
